Building Tip of the Week: Installing Pivot Style Hinges

Posted by aerobeez On September - 25 - 2014

Hello Aerobeez Pilots! Welcome back for another installment of Pete’s Tip of the Week. As always, these tips are intended to help with all types of model building, even if you don’t own an Aerobeez plane or have yet to take the first step into becoming an RC pilot. We want to help you improve your model building, set-up, and eventually flying skills.

So without further ado, today’s tip will focus on: Installing Pivot Style Hinges.

When gluing in pivot style hinges, always use a drop or two of oil on the pivot area of the hinges. Standard household cooking oil or even a drop of motor oil will do. This will prevent glue from adhering to the pivot section and provide a smooth rotation on the control surface.  If you do not have a fine tip oil dispenser, you can apply with a tooth pick or q-tip to the pivot area.

Thank you all for reading Pete’s Tip of the Week and be sure to check back for more each week!
