Tips: Installing Wheel Pants on Aerobeez 26% Yak-55M

Posted by aerobeez On April - 12 - 2012

As most of our planes come with lots of pre-fabricated parts and quick assembly features, you may notice though the wheel pants for our 26% Yak-55M are not pre-drilled (Hey, we can’t make every too easy otherwise where is the fun right!)

So, to better help  making your installation smooth and easy (and fun of course), I am posting the steps here on how to properly install the wheel pants on the Yak-55M.

First, fit the wheel pant onto the landing gear where it’s supposed to sit.  Then use a hand drill to mark the hole positions through the pre-drilled hole on the carbon fiber landing gear.

Second, use the marking use a guide to drill through the wheel pant.  Use the same size drill bit as the existing holes on the landing gear.  Make sure you drill the holes perpendicular to the face of the wheel pant.  To make the hole position more precise, you can use the smaller drill bit to drill a pilot hole first.  For better surface appearance, drill only half way through from one side, then flip it over and drill from the other side.  This will prevent the chips and bits from coming out from the edge of the hole.

Third, place the supplied metal pieces (wood nut) on the outside face of the wheel pant on the holes.

Now drive the supplied screws through the holes onto the wood nut until the nuts bite into the wheel pant.  But make sure you don’t over tighten it.  It may crack the wheel pant.

That’s it.  You are done.  This is how it is supposed to look like when you are done.

Hope this little instruction helps.  As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact us at
